Wallpaper in Southern Oregon: a guide to design and installation

1. Choose the room before the pattern
Pick one wall and decide what you want it to do. Are you looking for a calmer bedroom, a playful powder room or a living space with a strong focal point? That answer narrows the catalog faster than choosing a favorite color alone.
- Bedrooms: try botanicals, a landscape or a repeat with some breathing room. Compare the pattern behind your headboard so the main detail is not hidden.
- Powder rooms: a small space can carry a big pattern. Check the design around mirrors and fixtures, and choose the material for the room's actual conditions—not just its name.
- Living rooms and home offices: view a mural from the doorway and your usual seat. Keep important artwork away from tall furniture or a screen that will cover it.

2. Match the material to your wall and routine
A beautiful design on the wrong surface is not a good fit. Start with how long you want the wallpaper to stay, who will install it and how the wall will be used.
- For a long-term room: PVC-Free Traditional is our best-overall starting point. It has a matte finish and uses paste on a smooth, primed, fully cured surface.
- For a rental or a removable update: consider Matte Peel & Stick on smooth, fully cured painted walls. Ask your landlord first and test adhesion and removal; removable does not mean guaranteed damage-free on every paint.
- For a commercial or higher-traffic space: start a conversation about Recycled Satin Canvas. Confirm cleaning requirements and any required fire-rating documentation for the exact material before ordering.

3. Check texture, patches and paint before ordering
Wallcovering is a finish, not a wall repair. Existing texture, uneven patches, dents and other imperfections can remain visible through the finished wallpaper. Peel-and-stick adhesion also depends on the surface underneath it.
Send one straight-on photo, a close-up of the texture and a photo with light falling across the wall. Tell us about recent painting, loose paint or old adhesive. Fresh paint must be fully cured according to the paint and wallcovering requirements; do not assume dry-to-the-touch means ready to cover.
If the wall needs repair, sanding, skim coating, texture removal or other preparation, that work is quoted separately. Moisture or mold concerns need to be addressed before wallpaper is considered. Review the installation scope and exclusions so there are no surprises.
4. Live with a sample in your own light
A screen cannot show exactly how a finish will look beside your flooring, trim and lamps. Hold a sample on the intended wall and check it in daylight and after dark. Move it next to the largest piece of furniture, not just your favorite throw pillow.

5. Measure the whole wall and separate the costs
Measure the width and height in several places and keep the largest measurements. Note doors, windows, outlets and any sloped ceiling. Do not subtract openings or guess a trimming allowance without checking the layout: the design still needs to align across the wall.

6. How complimentary installation works locally
Press Esc offers complimentary standard installation for approved local wallpaper projects that we can photograph or film before, during and after the work. It helps us document real rooms and build our installation portfolio. It is not an automatic free-install promise for every order or location.
For an approved project, Press Esc covers all agreed standard-install labor with no hourly cap, plus normal tools, equipment, setup, basic installation consumables and cleanup. The wallpaper is installed on the existing wall surface as presented.
Wall repair, sanding, skim coating, drywall finishing, texture removal, painting, extensive adhesive removal, mold or moisture remediation and other surface preparation are not included. Specialty access equipment and work outside the agreed scope are quoted separately.

Can I put wallpaper over textured walls?
Do not assume the material will hide texture or adhere correctly. Share close-up photos and test the selected material. Surface preparation may be needed and is separate from complimentary standard installation.
Can I see what it might look like before ordering?
Try the room preview tool for a visual starting point, then use a physical sample to judge the actual color and finish. A digital preview is not a final proof of print color or installation scale.
